The Power of Knowledge Symposium
KIT Royal Tropical Institute is co-hosting the first in the series of our annual Power of Knowledge event, on 1 September 2022, with Asfari Institute van the American University of Beirut and EthiXpert in Johannesburg.
The one-day event will be hosted in Amsterdam by KIT, in Beirut by Asfari Institute, and in Johannesburg by EthiXpert. You can also join a part of the event online.
At this symposium, we will bring together representatives from national and international governments, policy organisations, think tanks, philanthropic organisations, corporations, and non-governmental organisations from around the globe. Together, we will examine how the North-South paradigm shapes the flow of knowledge adversely and how we can effectively move away from an imbalanced structure towards a more equitable one by creating equitable partnerships.
Building a community with a shared agenda
Are we doing enough to shift the power and leave no one behind? Through this event, we hope to build a community that will address this and other pressing issues that will come up as we decolonize the pillars of knowledge.
We hope that you’ll join us, not just on 1 September 2022, but in our commitment to ensure equal access to knowledge.
This year’s theme is ‘Walking the talk on equitable partnerships’
Are you or your organisation working to redress this imbalance as well? We are keen to hear your thoughts and suggestions on how we can harness the power of knowledge for more equitable partnerships together.
Keynote speakers
We are pleased to present our speakers: Dr. Wanjiru Kamau-Rutenberg, Dr. Zuleika Bibi Sheik and Dr. Samuel Oti. They are committed to decolonising knowledge and are striving hard to forge promising and equal partnerships that will enable progress towards sustainable and inclusive societies.
