About WECF
WECF International is a not-for-profit network of ecofeminist organisations dedicated to a gender-just and healthy planet for all. Our international network consists of over 250 women’s and civil society organisations in 70 countries. Our network of partners is supported by a team of 50 colleagues based in our 4 offices in the Netherlands, France, Germany and Georgia.
WECF International is located in Utrecht, the Netherlands. It has a dual governance system. The formal supervision of the executive directors and their team is done by our Board of Trustees (more about our BoT below). Our international network partners have their say in our governance through our International Advisory Board, who provide guidance for our multi-annual strategy. Our organigram can be found here.
About our Board of Trustees
The BoT meets 3-4 times per year (in person and online) and ensures supervision of the board of directors and the financial and strategic plans and reports. The Board of Trustees can also represent the organisation at policy meetings, present the organisation to media and engage with the members of our network. Currently, the BoT consists of six members:
Profile of the candidate
We are looking for an inspiring BoT secretary who
- has proven experience in an organisation working in the field of gender equality, sustainable development, climate justice, environmental action, social change, international cooperation or any other related relevant field;
- has knowledge of Dutch legal systems – including financial policies – relevant to non-profit organisations and can provide legal advice to directors (knowledge of German and French legal systems is an advantage);
- has knowledge of and experience with capacity strengthening, policy advocacy and campaigning in an international civil society context
- can provide independent supervision of the BoT, jointly with the other members of the BoT from across Europe;
- can provide strategic guidance to the organisation so that it is run in accordance with its mission;
- provide input to WECF’s strategic plans and reports;
- is able to join at least one BoT meeting per year physically, preferably more.
Ideally, when the time allows, our ideal candidate can also
- engage with the members of our network and our International Advisory Board from all regions of the world on issues of strategic concern;
- engage in external representation and positioning of our organisation, aimed at forming strategic alliances and influencing policies including in the Netherlands, the EU and the UN.
We believe that through diverse representation in our governance, providing different perspectives, experiences and visions for how WECF can strengthen policy frameworks and promote local feminist action, we are better able to bring gender- and climate justice forward. We therefore aim for a minimum of 50% of our BoT members to be women and look for diversity in terms of gender composition. In addition, we strive towards diversity in terms of ethnicity and geographical regional representation, and encourage individuals originating outside the Netherlands to apply.
The position of the BoT member is non-renumerated. Costs incurred for travel and meetings are reimbursed.
Are you interested in becoming part of our Board of Trustees? We look very much forward to hearing from you!
