Together with partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America, Liliane Fonds has been making the living, playing and learning world of children with disabilities more accessible for more than 40 years. We contribute to a society in which everyone can participate.

 

In support of the Strategic Partnership ‘Make Way’, Liliane Fonds is searching for a:

Learning & Knowledge Development adviser

This is a paid position for 24 hours per week (0.63 FTE) / temporary position for 12/13 months.

What are you going to do?
As a Learning & Knowledge Development adviser (0,43 fte) you contribute to the work of the Make Way toolkit- and curriculum development group, the development of Information Education Communication materials and infographics and you support facilitating masterclasses and the Community of Practice for trainers.

Besides the role of a Learning & Knowledge adviser you also have the role of a Programme Officer (0,2 fte) in the Make Way Consortium; you support the Programme Manager in her responsibility overseeing the country and program context of Liliane Fonds in the Make Way consortium.

In both roles you contribute to strong and effective collaboration with and between consortium partners and within Liliane Fonds through regular communication, consortium meetings (mostly online) and team meetings. As a Programme Officer you facilitate input for proposal development and knowledge sharing within Liliane Fonds to support sustainability of the Make Way gains.

You will be part of the Programme Strategy & Learning team of the Programmes Department. You will receive hierarchical guidance from the Manager, to whom you also report. You will work closely with other colleagues who are committed to this programme in the consortium and collaborate with other team members and Programmes Department staff to share and embed lessons learned, products, etc. within the organization.


Who are you and what do you bring?

  • Academic working and thinking level and education in an area relevant to international co-operation.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience with stimulating learning and knowledge development within organizations and with engaging in a wider network.
  • Knowledge about and preferably experience with programme management.
  • Understanding of the concept of intersectionality, knowledge of and experience with disability inclusion in SRHR programmes and advocacy is an advantage.
  • You represent your field of expertise in an inspiring manner and stimulate mutual co-operation.
  • Capacity to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures, ability and marginalization.
  • Skilled in supporting programmes remotely.
  • Relevant work experience in the Global South is an advantage.
  • Excellent writing skills and an ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Good oral and written skills in English; basic knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
  • A valid work permit to work in the EU.

Liliane
Fonds has an active integrity and child safeguarding policy. All employees sign the code of conduct and are obliged to comply with it. In our code of conduct, child protection has specific attention. All employees are also required to submit a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). We also do a reference/integrity check with two previous employers or clients during the application procedure.


Around 50,000 children with disabilities received support from Liliane Fonds in 2023. We brought about a change in their lives. A change that for most means the difference between a life on the margins and a life with others and room for development.

80% of all children with disabilities live in the poorest parts of the world. This is no coincidence. Poverty leads to disability, through insufficient healthy food, poor living environment and limited access to healthcare, for example. Conversely, disability leads to more poverty. Partly because parents of children with disabilities incur higher costs for care and medicines. And also because the children themselves rarely have access to education and, later in life, the labour market. They are also hampered by social exclusion and stigma. Thus, the vicious cycle of poverty and disability is closed.

Liliane Fonds breaks that vicious circle and improves the quality of life and future prospects of children with disabilities. We make their living, playing and learning environment more accessible and contribute to a society in which they can participate. We always do this together with local partners, who know the situation on the ground and have the network to provide this help in the best possible way.

At our office in 's-Hertogenbosch, Liliane Fonds and MIVA together employ over 95 employees in service and over 80 volunteers. Since 2018, Liliane Fonds and MIVA have formed a personal union.
