KIT Institute has an internship vacancy for its Gender Team. The internship will run from approximately 13 January 2025 to 15 August 2025, 32 to 40 hours/week.
KIT’s Gender Team is comprised of international gender specialists that focus on gender and rights analysis, gender integration, capacity development and research. We work on both stand-alone women’s rights initiatives, and gender equality and rights issues in agricultural and environmental projects and practice, feminist financing, responsible business, and health. Together with partners and clients KIT Gender facilitates and documents critical reflection and gender knowledge development, supports the development of policies and strategies and the monitoring and evaluation of programmes that focus on gender equality and rights outcomes.
The work takes place majorly at KIT’s office in Amsterdam but also, from home or other places when necessary. Our organization’s working language is English.
As a Gender Team Intern, you will work on:
We are currently looking for an intern to strengthen our team. As gender team intern, you will work with colleagues in KIT’s Gender Team on a variety of projects. Your main role will be to support the online and face-to-face modules of the programme: Feminist Edge – Professional Development for Gender Trainers. During off-peak periods of the programme (Module 2), you will also support other projects in the area of women’s rights, empowerment and leadership, and/or in the area of gender, agriculture and environment. This position is ideal for a Master’s student looking for an opportunity to gain relevant working experience in a professional working environment on gender equality and international development.
You are:
- You are in the final years of your study (Master) in social sciences, for example anthropology, human geography, political sciences, development studies – with a specialization in gender studies.
- Strong interest in the gender dimensions of development, particularly in gender equality, feminist knowledge production, women and girls’ empowerment, social justice, human rights and transformative change.
- Experience in the coordination, planning and logistics. Experience with organizing training sessions or workshops is a strong asset.
- Team player with excellent listening, communications and problem solving skills.
- Capacity to work within a diverse multicultural team.
- Studying at a Dutch institute and in the possession of a relevant visa is required.
- Fluency in English. Working knowledge of French, Spanish and/or Arabic is an advantage.

We offer compensation of €550 per month for an enrolled (Master) student (based on a 40-hour week) and employment for eight months starting in January 2025.
The work takes place primarily at KIT’s office, in our historic building in the heart of Amsterdam. It is also possible to work from home (for a maximum of 50% of the working time) or other places when necessary. Our organization’s working language is English.

The intern will join an international team working in a multidisciplinary unit of more than 85 advisors and will be part of the Gender team consisting of 14 advisors.
