We help to strengthen resilience of vulnerable people exposed to hazards and crisis situations and we respond to disasters and conflicts to save lives and alleviate suffering. In the Netherlands with more than thirty thousand volunteers and internationally through technical assistance, supplies and money. Together we act before, during and after disasters to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people.

We do this without regards to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinion. Our seven principles guide our humanitarian work: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.

The International Assistance division is responsible for all Netherlands Red Cross international support for victims of disasters and conflicts and for vulnerable people exposed to hazards.

 

Business Developer Data & Digital

32 hrs/week, The Hague

We are seeking a business developer for our international data & digital portfolio. This role will help us create compelling, clear and persuasive proposals to improve humanitarian action with digital transformation. You will help find overlaps between the needs in the humanitarian sector, the strategic priorities of our donors and the digital products & data services we can offer.

 

Where are you going to work?

At the Netherlands Red Cross’ data and digital team “510”, we improve humanitarian action through data & digital solutions that increase speed, efficiency, and impact. You’ll join an enthusiastic, collaborative team within the International Assistance Division, currently 50 members strong, including dedicated core staff and thematic specialists. Our team is motivated by using their technical skills to do good! This position sits in 510’s Operations Team. You will work with people in our data and digital teams, as well as liaise with colleagues in the Program Development & Management Unit and Cluster Marketing & Fundraising. You will help keep track and log progress on the business pipeline, research potential competitors and ensure that all proposals are aligned with our values.

 

What are your core tasks going to be?

In the first three months you will have to become rapidly familiar with the data & digital work we do. Together with leadership you will prioritize within our thematic areas. You will begin tracking opportunities and engaging with stakeholders, including proposal kick-offs. You will ensure that the pipeline is monitored with high quality data. In this first quarter we are aiming for submitting at least one proposal. In the following months, you will gradually increase that output and research current clients/donors. Together we will work towards a targeted approach and develop more business within our existing portfolio and with new donors. All the while you make sure that the rest of our team understands how to effectively contribute to business and proposal development by standardizing best practices.

The salary for this position falls within scale 11 as mentioned in the collective agreement, depending on experience, minimum of € 3.869,44 and a maximum of € 5.031,20 gross per month on the basis of full-time employment). A fixed-term contract of a year with the prospect of extension.

Next to your monthly salary you will have a 'personal budget’ at your disposal, of 18,9% of your monthly gross salary. You can use it to withdraw a holiday allowance, extra holidays or an end of year bonus. There are also various additional conditions such as a pension scheme, travel allowance, and good opportunities for personal development. You will also have a laptop at your disposal.

Our office is in the Hague, walking distance from the Laan van NOI station. Like everyone else, you work activity based, partly from home and partly from the office. We regularly meet colleagues on the work floor but also online via Teams to discuss cross functional topics and to stay connected to each other and our networks.
