Group Financial Controller

Enviu is looking for a talented and ambitious Group Financial Controller to shape and optimize the Finance Administration and Control function of Enviu and its ventures. Enviu is an impact venture building studio. As a non-profit, we start issue driven programs to ideate solutions to some of the world's largest social and environmental problems. We then build the ventures that take these solutions to scale. Enviu has offices in Rotterdam, Jakarta, Bangalore and Nairobi and is active in the domains of textiles, agrifood, mobility and zero waste.

We are currently looking for a Group Financial Controller based in our Rotterdam office whose financial accounting and business management expertise translates into sustained business growth.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the CFO to advise on strategic business decisions and business monitoring approaches as well as produce the month-end reporting pack within Group deadlines
• Work closely with other finance colleagues in Kenya, India, Indonesia and The Netherlands
• Manage the financial department staff (2 employees)
• Ensure an accurate and timely general ledger accounting of the Enviu entities, month-end closing, including payroll, reimbursements, depreciation, overheads, accruals, and prepayments
• Be primarily responsible for annual statutory accounts for all Enviu entities and audit processes
• Be primarily responsible for adequate submission of all statutory returns for various authorities, including income tax, VAT returns and EU Statistics (Intrastat)
• Be intensely involved in budget and cashflow forecasting process
• Perform external communication with funders, subsidy providers, suppliers, banks, auditors, accountants/payroll providers, Dutch tax authority (Belastingdienst), and government agencies
• Provide accounting support for our start-up portfolio companies
• Maintain Internal Controls by preparing, recommending and overseeing policies and procedures

About you

• At least 5 years of working experience in finance and financial controlling
• Knowledge of accounting standards (NL GAAP, IFRS) and financial regulations
• Understanding of VAT and corporate income tax regulation
• Experience with business management and accounting software (AFAS and Power BI preferred)
• Ability to create structure and overview in complex, fast-paced business environments and ability to work under pressure
• Mathematical and analytical skills
• Sound managerial skills
• A Master’s degree in business finance, an RC/RA accreditation is preferred
• Fluency in English and ability to communicate in Dutch with external authorities
• Furthermore, the ideal candidate resides in the Rotterdam area and is able to travel regularly to the office. Please note that we do not sponsor visa or relocation.
