Webinar: Promoting Decent Work in Senegal’s Horticulture Sector

-

Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your understanding of the challenges and opportunities in promoting decent work in the horticulture sector.

Senegal’s horticulture sector plays a crucial role in the country’s economy, producing key crops like onions, tomatoes, green beans, mangoes, and cashew nuts. These crops are primarily grown in the Senegal River Valley, Casamance, and Niayes regions, representing 40% of the country’s total horticultural output. In addition to being vital export commodities, they provide livelihoods for hundreds of thousands of workers. Improving working conditions in these sectors can significantly impact workers, their families, and communities, both economically and socially.

As part of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ aid and trade initiative, Senegal has been identified as a priority “combi” country. The horticulture sector has been selected as a key area for advancing sustainable development, ensuring fair working conditions, and enhancing food security.

To support these efforts, CNV Internationaal, MEYS Emerging Markets Research, and Nafifu SARL conducted a comprehensive study on decent work in Senegal’s horticulture sub-sectors. This webinar will present the key findings from this research and offer an opportunity for lively discussions, Q&A, and shared insights.
