The European Public Health (EPH) Conference is the premier annual scientific conference on public health in Europe, bringing together research, practice, policy, and education. Each year the conference is organised in a different country by the EPH Conference Foundation in close cooperation with one or more local partner(s). The 2025 conference is hosted in Helsinki.
The foundation is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation at the initiative of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA). EUPHA is an umbrella organisation for public health associations and institutes and has 85 members from 47 countries. We bring together around 40,000 experts for professional exchange and collaboration.

The EPH Conference Foundation
The foundation is managed by the Executive Board (EB). In organising the conference, the Executive Board is assisted by the Local Support Committee (LSC), International Conference Council (ICC), the International Scientific Committee (ISC), and EPH Conference Office (EPH-CO).
The position
In this senior position you are end-responsible for our flagship annual EPH conference. You ensure its continued success, growth and increasing impact. You also supervise all other EUPHA events and develop innovative event formats. In collaboration with the Science and Project Manager you ensure all events are scientifically rigorous, of high-quality, accredited when possible, and recognisable; your goal is to promote EUPHA’s mission of advancing public health and equity in Europe.
Overseeing all aspects of the EPH conference organisation:
- Managing the organisation and execution of the EPH Conference, including budgeting, stakeholder management, quality assurance, evaluation, and reporting.
- Acting as the primary contact for key stakeholders (EB, ICC, ISC, LSC).
- Planning and overseeing the programme: pre-conferences, plenary programme, scientific parallel programme, lunch symposiums, exhibitions, and social programme.
- Coordinating with session organisers, speakers, and presenters and ensuring a smooth on-site experience for all conference delegates.
- Managing the abstract submission process in cooperation with the conference coordinator, including system set-up, review distribution, and final decision preparation.
- Managing and monitoring the budget for the EPH Conference, in collaboration with the CFO.
- Securing and managing partnerships and negotiating contracts with vendors, sponsors, and other international stakeholders.
- Securing accreditation with UEMS EACCME and preparing required reports.
- Identifying and securing funding opportunities and grants.
- Developing and implementing marketing and promotional strategies, in collaboration with the Communications Officer.
- Conducting post-conference evaluations, collecting feedback, preparing comprehensive reports with the aim of improving future events.
- Supervising a dedicated small team of (external) colleagues, primarily responsible for registration of delegates, abstract management, conference logistics, exhibition, communication.
Developing and managing EUPHA events:
- Managing the organisation and execution of the European Public Health Week, section-led conferences, EU-Presidencies-related events, and Brussels-base lunch symposiums.
- Ensuring high scientific quality and policy relevant contents of all EUPHA-hosted events.
- Advancing relationships with public health associations, international organisations, policy makers, and sponsors.
- Managing the budgets for EUPHA-hosted events in collaboration with the CFO.
- Identifying funding opportunities and assist in sponsorship acquisition.
- Developing and implementing marketing and promotional strategies, in collaboration with the Communications Officer.
- Collaborating with a dedicated team of EUPHA and external staff, primarily responsible for advocacy and lobby, Science and Projects, and communication.
Your profile
This senior role requires robust leadership qualities, a strong interest in public health, and the ability to spearhead events with tact and diplomacy. Becoming successful as Conference and events manager means you:

- Have excellent organisational, time-management, cross-cultural and interpersonal skills.
- Have strong communication skills and easily build rapport with diverse stakeholders with differing priorities.
- Have experience working within an academic or NGOs setting.
- Are able and willing to travel up to 4 to 6 times per year.
- Have a master’s degree in a relevant field and senior and significant experience in conference and event management, ideally within an academic or scientific setting.
