Vacancy: Fundraising and Communications Intern at CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality (28 HRS)

CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality is looking for an enthusiastic intern to assist in our fundraising and communication efforts. This opportunity will provide you with hands-on experience in key areas such as track record building, proposal writing, partnership building, and donor engagement. These efforts will directly contribute to the sustainability of our current programs. In addition to this, the internship will also support our communications and will gain experience in campaigning, posting, and increasing the visibility of CHOICE’s work. Through this opportunity you will also have the chance to deepen your knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights for young people, making a meaningful contribution to our mission.

Deadline for Application: Sunday the 20th of April

Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We require working from the office at least two days a week as this will facilitate guidance and collaboration needed for the assignment. the intern possesses a valid work, student or search year (zoekjaar) visa.

Internship Allowance: €475 per month, based on 28 hours per week

Expected Hours and Period: 28 hours a week, for 6 months. Preferred starting date is mid-May 2025 with an approximate end date of mid-November 2025

CHOICE for Youth & Sexuality (CHOICE), founded in 1997, advocates with young people for their sexual and reproductive health and rights and for meaningful participation in the decisions made about their lives. We mutually strengthen the capacity of young people and youth-led organizations, supporting them to be leaders and change makers.

CHOICE is a youth-led organization meaning everyone in CHOICE is below the age of 30. Young people are at the centre of all decisions taken within our organization and our programmatic work. JOB DESCRIPTION – ABOUT THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Fundraising and Communications Intern will work closely together with the Resource Mobilisation Coordinator to raise funding and resources to ensure the sustainability of CHOICE’s work in our current programs, mainly through grant writing and partnership building. The Intern will also work closely with the Communications Coordinator to increase the visibility of CHOICE’s work and create content!

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are the main responsibilities of the position:
• Support the RMC in collecting and documenting CHOICE impact from our current programs
• Support the RMC in developing and implementing creative fundraising strategies to enhance financial sustainability.
• Support with building and maintaining meaningful relationships with our partner organizations to ensure long term sustainability of our work
• Research and connect with other likeminded donors, organizations and activists to strengthen CHOICE fundraising and communication efforts
• Support the RMC when needed in identifying new and relevant funding opportunities and assist in writing grant applications.
• Create online content for CHOICE’s communications channels on topics surrounding SRHR and Youth
• Support in programmatic communications activities, such as co-creating online SRHR campaigns with our partners
• Come to our Amsterdam office at least twice a week

PROFILE: WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Must have:
• Interest and motivation to learn about resource mobilization efforts and communications
• Excellent written skills and an ability to articulate complex project information in an accessible way
• Good communications skills
• Ability to work well in a team
• Good organisational skills and ability to comply with deadlines
• Strong research skills
• Interest of social media management and content creation
• Creative and innovative thinker
• Fluent in English
• Passionate about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
• Share a commitment to CHOICE values
• Interest in and understanding of international development, different cultures, human rights, gender, feminism, LGBTI+, and intersectionality

Nice to have:
• You have previous experience with fundraising
• You have previous experience with communications
• You have additional language skills, such as Dutch or French

This internship is designed as a learning opportunity where we will support you in developing your skills and exploring your goals. We will provide guidance and mentorship throughout your journey with us.

APPLICATION

The internship will ideally start approximately on the 12th of May with a contract of 6 months. Finishing around mid-November. The exact dates and hours are to be determined following a discussion with the applicant.
