Niños de Guatemala (NDG) is een non-profitorganisatie die zich inzet voor onderwijs en families in achtergestelde gebieden van Guatemala. NDG is opgericht in 2006 en beheert drie scholen rond de stad Antigua, waar kwalitatief onderwijs wordt aangeboden aan meer dan 500 kinderen uit gezinnen met lage inkomens. De internationale Supervisory Board houdt toezicht op de activiteiten in Guatemala en op de fondsenwerving in Nederland, de UK, de VS, en daarbuiten.

Verantwoordelijkheden:

Als lid van de Board is je primaire rol het toezicht houden op de fondsenwervingsactiviteiten en het financieel beheer in Nederland. Je stuurt het fondsenwervingsteam aan om voldoende middelen te werven om de activiteiten van NDG in Guatemala te kunnen ondersteunen.

1. Fondsenwerving:

NDG werkt samen met twee toegewijde parttime fondsenwervers in Nederland. Je zorgt ervoor dat zij de nodige ondersteuning, strategische richting en middelen hebben om de fondsenwervingsdoelen te behalen (ongeveer EUR 200k-300k per jaar). Jullie werken samen om fondsenwervingsstrategieën te ontwikkelen en te implementeren die zijn afgestemd op de Nederlandse markt. Dit omvat het identificeren van potentiële donateurs en fondsen, het plannen van evenementen, en het verkennen van innovatieve fondsenwervingsmogelijkheden. Je beoordeelt regelmatig de voortgang van de fondsenwervingsactiviteiten, geeft feedback en wijzigt strategieën waar nodig om de resultaten te optimaliseren.

1. Financieel Beheer:

Je houdt toezicht op de Nederlandse financiën. Dit omvat het beheer van de Nederlandse bankrekening en verantwoordelijkheid voor de financiële vastlegging en financiële verantwoording (al dan niet uitbesteed). De verwachte inkomsten zijn in overeenstemming met de uitgaven in Guatemala en de financiële rapportages in beide regio’s zijn op elkaar afgestemd.

1. Boardparticipatie:

De Board heeft een maandelijkse online meeting met de Guatemalteekse directeur. De Board streeft ernaar om eenmaal per jaar in Guatemala bijeen te komen, gecombineerd met de jaarlijkse school graduation ceremonies in november.

Tijdsinvestering:

Deze vrijwillige functie vereist een inzet van ongeveer 2-3 dagdelen per maand. Dit omvat deelname aan de maandelijkse Board call, gepland of ongepland overleg met het fondsenwervingsteam, en het beheer van de bankrekening en financien.

Kwalificaties:

• Ervaring in fondsenwervingsactiviteiten, bij voorkeur binnen een non-profit of NGO-setting.
• Relevant netwerk met fondsenwervingspotentieel.
• Inzicht in financieel beheer, budgettering en rapportage.
• Vermogen om twee toegewijde parttime fondsenwervers te coachen en strategische richting te geven.

Niños de Guatemala (NDG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and community development support to children and families in underserved areas of Guatemala. Founded in 2006, the organization operates three schools in and around the city of Antigua, Guatemala, offering quality education to over 500 children from low-income families. The International Board oversees the Guatemalan activities, as well as fundraising in the Netherlands, the US, the UK and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

As an International Board Member for NDG, your primary role will be to oversee and manage the fundraising activities and financial accounts in the Netherlands. You will steer the fundraising team, to ensure sufficient fundraising to support NDG’s activities in Guatemala.

1. Fundraising Oversight:

NDG works with two dedicated part-time fundraisers in the Netherlands. You will ensure that they have the necessary support, resources, and strategic direction to meet fundraising goals (approx. EUR 200k-300k per year). Collaborate with the fundraisers to develop and implement fundraising strategies tailored to the Dutch market. This includes identifying potential donors, planning events, and exploring innovative fundraising avenues. Regularly review the progress of fundraising activities, provide feedback, and adjust strategies as needed to optimize results.

1. Financial Management:

Oversee the Dutch finances. This includes management of the Dutch bank account and ensuring that all funds are properly accounted for. Ensure that projected income is aligned with Guatemalan expenses, and that financial reporting across both regions is aligned.

1. Board Participation:

The Board has a monthly board call with the Guatemalan Director and other board members. The board aims to meet once a year in person in Guatemala, combined with the annual school graduation ceremonies in November.

Time Commitment:

This voluntary role requires a commitment of approximately 2-3 half-days per month. This includes participation in the monthly board call, a regular meeting or call with the fundraising team, and time dedicated to financial oversight and strategy discussions.

Qualifications:

• Experience in fundraising activities, preferably within a non-profit or NGO setting.
• A relevant network with fund raising potential.
• Understanding of financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
• Ability to steer, coach and motivate two dedicated part-time fundraisers, and provide strategic direction.
