Are you a creative digital content enthusiast eager to kickstart your career in communications with purpose and impact?  

The Hague Humanity Hub is looking for a Junior Communications Officer to join our growing team! 

 In this role, you will be responsible for crafting compelling media content for a number of different audiences and ensuring consistency in messaging, tone of voice, and brand identity across all our communication channels.  

From crafting engaging articles to designing impactful social media campaigns, you will play a key role in storytelling that showcases the incredible work of our vibrant community. This is a unique opportunity for a proactive starter with a ‘can-do’ mentality, but with support and guidance available to help you grow into an integral part of our communications team.

Key responsibilities

As a Junior Communications Officer, you will: 

  • Create and publish engaging content, such as blog posts, interviews, presentations, articles, and videos. 
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing Manager and programming team to develop communication strategies and implement campaigns for various projects. 
  • Manage and optimize social media channels (via Hootsuite), ensuring impactful and consistent outreach. 
  • Design visuals and social media banners using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Identify storytelling opportunities from within our community, showcasing their impactful work. 
  • Coordinate newsletters, website updates, and other communications channels. 
  • Measure and report on the performance of campaigns, learning to track key metrics (KPIs) to enhance effectiveness. 
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in communications and social media. 
  • Support event and project teams with their communications needs. 

Profile

  • A strong motivation to start a career in communications, particularly in the non-profit sector. 
  • A proactive approach to learning and growing in a dynamic environment. 
  • Excellent writing skills in both Dutch and English, with the ability to adapt tone of voice for different audiences. 
  • Creativity in crafting written and visual content that resonates with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Experience (educational or practical) with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, Mailchimp/Zoho Campaigns, and WordPress. 
  • An MBO/HBO degree in communications, marketing, or related fields. 
  • Flexibility, an open mind, and a collaborative spirit. 
  • A strong affinity with the Humanity Hub’s mission and the peace and justice ecosystem in The Hague. 
  • A valid (long term) work permit for the Netherlands (no zoekjaar)

  • A one-year contract (0.8 FTE/32 hours per week) with the possibility of extension. 
  • A salary of  €2070 gross per month (based on 0.8 FTE).
