Operations Officer
(24 hours per week)
The Operations Officer will oversee the operations of the Kampala ‘hub’. The PAX Kampala hub supports the projects implemented by PAX and partners in Sudan (Sudan program) and in Northern Uganda (DRC program). The position’s primary location is Kampala but the Operations Officer will also travel to Gulu, Uganda. The Operations Officer will be line managed by the Team Lead Africa based at HQ in Utrecht, the Netherlands. This position will work closely with the Project Controller at HQ in Utrecht as well as the members of the DRC and Sudan country program teams.
What will you do?
The Operations Officer plays a key role to ensure an effective day-to day management of the PAX office in Kampala. This includes the provision of logistical support to organize meetings/events, travel arrangements and office management. The Operations Officer is also responsible to make payments, prepare cash advances and ensure that transactions are entered accurately and promptly, and that financial records are structurally maintained. Other duties include participating in budgeting and financial quality assurance of internal documents when required and conducting the tasks of the Uganda PAX security focal point.
The position is advertised for 3 working days per week(or 24 hours), with tasks divided between office work in Kampala and field/partners/bank and other government office visits depending on the needs. The consultancy is planned to start as soon as possible and ends on September 30th, 2025.
Who are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and fundamentals of accounting.
- Knowledge about donor’s reporting, audit & financial procedures
- Proven ability to work as an effective team member.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly to project areas (Gulu).
- Good communication skills.
- Computer skills: excellent Excel skills.
- Ugandan national/residency permit in Uganda is required
- English language skills required and Arabic language skills are a plus.

- Pay scale depending on experience: minimum 1.250- 1.800 USD per month (for a fulltime position of 36 hours per week).
